2019 UPDATE
We sampled the 2017 release of this same wine and re-rated it!
The Donna Review: This is definately a sharper wine than it’s 2016 release. There is no smooth with this one. Rating: 2.5/5
Man With no Palate Review: Very similiar characteristics to this 2016 the only difference is the initial acidic, followed by a rather smoother berry taste. But not as good as the 2016 vintage. Rating 2.5/5
Charles Renoir Red Burgundy, Gamay, Recolte 2016
The Donna Review
Smooth initially, then very sharp with a vinegar aftertaste.
Wine Rating: 3/5
Man with no Palate Review
Starts off smooth, becoming slightly acidic, back to smooth. Slightly light wine with a hint of berries.
Wine Rating: 3/5
Charles Renoir Red Burgundy, Gamay, Recolte 2016
I find that Gamay (like Pinot Noir) is one of the surprise products of Burgundy. With it’s gorgeous lift of red berry fruits and light spices and wild red fruits, the wines fruit driven characteristics and light profile go perfectly with meats and cheeses as well as light salad dishes.
