The Donna Review
I was excited to see a Montepulciano at Aldi.
But as an Australian Montepulciano it is rather spicy, unlike any other Montepulciano I have had previously.
Usually Montepulciano are smooth and easy to drink. this feels more like a harsh Shiraz, maybe it has the wrong label on. Not my favourite Montepulciano and at the price – quite steep for Aldi and definitely not an Aldi classic.
Somewhat feeling disappointed with this wine.

Man with no palate Review
They say that Chianti doesn’t travel far, and generally speaking that does seem to hold true particularly living in Australia. So such a classic Italian grape such as Montepulciano that is grown in Australia really does confuse the senses.
This is quite a peppery, dusty wine and there is nothing wrong with that. if you were to grow an Italian wine in Australia this is pretty much what you would expect. It has a hint of Italy, yet the harshness of the Australian climate. It is not a bad wine if you can get your hands on it, it would be worth a test.

Eden Valley Montepulciano 2020 Bottle Label Description
This is a no ordinary Montepulciano. Bold red with lifted plum, dried fruit and a hint of dark chocolate. Medium to full body, both rich and complex, bay leaf and finishing on fine powdery tannins.
A wine that demands being enjoyed with friends and family around the dinner table.
