The Donna Review
Having enjoyed a younger version of this wine last weekend at Mornington Estate, it was young and fresh. So I was excited to find this wine in our ‘do not touch section’ – wines that we have layed down. But I think we cellared this for too long – 10 years! On opening I could instantly see that the colour of the wine had changed – more brown than red, so more towards a Port than a wine, but on saying that it was still beautifully smooth, it had developed a little acidiness.

Man with no Palate Review
I have no idea whether this wine is really excellent or just gone off. According to the winery their Pinot Noir should be drunk within 5-10 years. And we are clearly at the outer limit, that said this is a smooth wine on the pallate but seems to lack intensivity of flavour.

Mornington Estate Pinot Noir Bottle Label Description
The regional attributes of deep sandy soils, gently rolling hills and cool summer breezes from Port Philip Bay provide a unique canvas for producing wines of character, distinction and finesse.
A lifted bouquet of forest fruits, dark cherry and chary oak begin this stunning Pinot Noir. The plush palate continues this backed by fine silky tannins and cleansing acidity. Altough drinking well now, thoughtful cellaring will benefit this wine. Enjoy with gamey meat dishes or a grazing plate and some good company.
