The Donna Review

I do like a Montepulciano and so was pleased to find this and one that is 2 years old. Montepulciano is generally produced in Sicily, so wanted to see what this Australian was like. It is a deep ruby in the glass and has an interesting bouquet. There really is a chocolate undertone and I paired this with eating a small amount of chocolate – oh my. Can easily be drunk on its own or with food. A good Australian Montepulciano, but not the best I have had. There is a slight acridness to this without food

Man with no palate Review

I am a great fan of Montepulciano it is one of my favourite Italian varieties and maybe just because it is not Italian it doesn’t quite have the same level of sophistication, taste and balance. I find this particular variety somewhat harsh, not soft, dusky not smooth. It is like comparing a Cadbury cholate with a Belgium chocolate. I was generally looking forward to this wine and it has sadly disappointed.

The Ethereal One Fleurieu Montepulciano 2020 Bottle Label Description

TEO celebrates wines with ethereal qualities – so delicious and grateful in style they seem not to be of the world.

This classic Italian style Montepulciano has an intense purpose colour and aromas of blackberries, plums and black cherries, followed by hints of chocolate. The palate is dominated with boysenberries and black plum, perfectly balanced with generous silky tannins.
